Soakaway Top Hat Pipe Sealing Units – 110mm & 160mm

Soakaway Top Hat Pipe Sealing Units – 110mm & 160mm

Description

Pennine Top Hat Units are preformed pipe sealing sleeves designed to create a continuous airtight and watertight seal where service pipes pass through membranes. They are commonly used as a supporting component within soakaway crates, attenuation tanks and sealed drainage systems to prevent air, water and gas leakage at pipe entry points.

These Top Hat units are manufactured in the UK and supplied in two forms: a rigid polypropylene version and a flexible TPE version supplied with a stainless steel Jubilee Clip. Both options are lightweight and easy to install, providing a cost effective alternative to traditional steel Top Hat sleeves.

The rigid version is suited to straight, fixed pipe penetrations where minimal movement is expected. The flexible version accommodates minor movement and tolerances around the pipe and provides additional security when tightened using the Jubilee Clip.

When installed correctly using double sided and single sided sealing tape, the Top Hat forms a continuous seal around the pipe and membrane interface. This makes it suitable for use in attenuation tanks, soakaway systems, geomembrane lined structures and other applications where airtight or watertight integrity is required.

These units are compatible with common 110mm and 160mm plastic drainage pipes and are resistant to puncture, tearing and hydrocarbon vapours. They are typically used alongside geotextile membranes, geomembranes and jointing tapes supplied within soakaway and drainage systems.

What is the difference between rigid and flexible Top Hats?

Rigid Top Hats are made from polypropylene and suit fixed pipe penetrations. Flexible Top Hats are made from TPE and include a Jubilee Clip to allow for minor movement and tighter sealing.

Do I still need sealing tape if I use the Jubilee Clip version?

Yes. The Jubilee Clip secures the Top Hat to the pipe, but sealing tape is still required to create an airtight and watertight seal between the Top Hat and membrane.

Are these suitable for use in attenuation tanks?

Yes. They are commonly used to seal pipe entries into attenuation tanks and other lined drainage systems.

Can they be used with both geotextile and geomembrane liners?

Yes. They are compatible with both permeable geotextiles and impermeable geomembranes when installed correctly.

Are these reusable?

They are intended as permanent fittings. If removed, they should be replaced to ensure sealing integrity.
