Membranes

Membranes

Geotextile membranes are installed within ground build ups to control how soil, stone and water interact over time. Their main role is to prevent fine particles migrating into aggregate layers while still allowing water to drain naturally into the ground. This improves long term stability and reduces the risk of surface failure.

This collection includes both woven and non woven membranes. Non woven membranes are permeable fleece fabrics used primarily for separation and filtration. They are commonly installed under driveways, patios, paths, French drains and soakaways, and are also used as protection layers for liners and attenuation tanks where puncture resistance is required.

Woven membranes are designed for ground stabilisation and reinforcement. Their higher tensile strength makes them suitable for weak sub grades, trafficked areas and construction platforms where load distribution is critical. When buried, they also provide effective weed suppression.

Selecting the correct membrane depends on ground conditions, loading and the function of the layer, not simply fabric weight. Clay soils, wet ground and areas carrying vehicles place greater demands on puncture resistance and tensile strength than light duty landscaping.

All membranes in this category are designed to be buried and used as part of a complete system. Correct overlap, placement beneath the sub base and protection during installation are essential for reliable performance. Membranes can be used alongside geogrids, ground reinforcement grids and cellular systems where additional stabilisation is required.
