EnviroCrate 40-10 400L Storm Soakaway Crate

EnviroCrate 40-10 400L Storm Soakaway Crate

Description

The EnviroCrate 40-10 is a modular underground stormwater storage and soakaway crate designed for attenuation, infiltration and water reuse systems. Manufactured in the UK from recycled polypropylene, it provides reliable structural performance while delivering high water storage efficiency in SuDS compliant installations.

Each crate provides 400 litres of storage with a 95 percent void ratio, allowing significant water retention while minimising excavation volume. The 1 m x 1 m footprint makes the system quick to configure into tanks of almost any shape, whether for domestic driveways, commercial car parks, service yards, landscaped areas or developments with restricted space.

EnviroCrate 40-10 is suitable for infiltration soakaways when wrapped in a permeable non woven geotextile membrane. This prevents fines migration from surrounding soils while allowing controlled discharge into the ground. For attenuation or water storage systems, the crates should be encapsulated in an impermeable geomembrane with a geotextile protection fleece.

The system is rated for trafficked applications, including HGV traffic, provided minimum cover depths are achieved and suitable backfill is used. Typical installations include roof drainage attenuation tanks, soakaways beneath driveways, access roads, car parks and areas where conventional stone soakaways are impractical.

Limitations should be considered early. Maximum burial depth is 4.0 m from finished ground level to base of the system. Reduced cover or weak clay soils may require design checks, and infiltration performance will depend on ground permeability.

Key Features

  • 400 litre storage capacity per crate with high void ratio
  • Suitable for pedestrian, vehicle and HGV trafficked areas
  • Modular 1 m x 1 m format for flexible tank layouts
  • Lightweight units reduce manual handling on site
  • Manufactured in the UK from recycled polypropylene
  • Compatible with infiltration or attenuation systems

Material Composition

Manufactured from recycled polypropylene. This provides long term resistance to chemicals, groundwater and biological attack while maintaining structural integrity under load.

Soakaway Crates

About this collection

Soakaway Crates

Soakaway crates provide underground storage for surface water, allowing controlled infiltration into the surrounding ground and reducing runoff.

Is this suitable for use under driveways and car parks?

Yes. EnviroCrate 40-10 is suitable for trafficked areas including car parks and HGV access when installed with the correct cover depth and backfill.

Can it be used as a soakaway or an attenuation tank?

Yes. Use a permeable non woven geotextile for soakaway infiltration systems. For attenuation or water storage, use an impermeable geomembrane with a protection fleece.

What cover depth is required?

Minimum cover depends on loading. Pedestrian areas require around 250 mm, cars typically 400 to 500 mm, and HGV traffic up to 600 mm. Ground conditions must be considered.

Is this suitable for clay soils?

It depends. Clay soils often restrict infiltration, so attenuation with controlled discharge is usually more appropriate than a soakaway.

How many crates do I need per cubic metre?

You will need 2.5 crates to achieve approximately 1 m³ of water storage.
