Geotextile Single Sided Cloth Jointing Tape

Geotextile Single Sided Cloth Jointing Tape

Description

Geotextile Single Sided Cloth Jointing Tape is designed for joining overlaps in permeable geotextile membranes during installation. It is used to hold membrane sheets in position before and during backfilling, helping prevent movement, lifting or separation of overlaps.

The tape is suitable for use with both woven and non woven geotextile membranes in applications such as soakaway systems, attenuation tanks, French drains, horse menages and general landscaping projects. By keeping overlaps aligned, it helps maintain the intended separation and filtration performance of the membrane within the ground build up.

This tape is specified for use with geotextiles and offers more reliable adhesion than general purpose tapes found in DIY stores. It bonds effectively to geotextile surfaces and performs consistently in site conditions where membranes are handled, walked on and covered shortly after laying.

The tape is applied along the overlap, typically on the upper layer of membrane, once the sheets are positioned correctly. It is not designed to create a waterproof seal and should only be used with permeable membranes. For impermeable geomembranes or gas barriers, a double sided butyl tape should be used instead.

Available in both black and white finishes, the tape can be selected to suit membrane colour or site preference. Different widths and roll lengths allow flexibility depending on overlap size and project scale.

Why should I use geotextile jointing tape instead of leaving overlaps loose?

Loose overlaps can shift during foot traffic, backfilling or compaction, especially on larger areas. Taping the joint keeps sheets aligned, prevents gaps forming and helps the membrane perform as intended once covered.

Is this tape suitable for all permeable geotextile membranes?

Yes. It is suitable for both woven and non woven permeable geotextiles used for separation and filtration. It should not be used on impermeable membranes or gas barriers.

Does the tape replace the need for correct overlap?

No. The tape holds overlaps in place but does not reduce the overlap requirement. Typical overlaps are still 300 to 500 mm depending on ground conditions and application.

Where does this tape make the biggest difference on site?

It is most beneficial on soakaways, attenuation tanks, horse arenas and long membrane runs where movement during installation is likely. It also helps when working in windy conditions or on uneven sub grades.

Can this tape be used as a waterproof joint?

No. This tape is designed for porous systems and does not create a watertight seal. For waterproofing or gas control applications, a double sided butyl tape or welded joint is required.
