Rain Bloc Compact 300L Storm Soakaway Crate

Rain Bloc Compact 300L Storm Soakaway Crate

Description

The Rain Bloc Compact 300 is a modular stormwater soakaway and attenuation crate designed for efficient surface water management in SuDS compliant systems. With a high void ratio of 95 percent, it provides substantial water storage while reducing excavation volume compared to traditional stone soakaways.

Each crate offers a gross storage capacity of 300 litres and is manufactured from recycled polypropylene for long term durability and resistance to ground conditions. The compact modular design allows crates to be connected both lengthways and crossways, making it suitable for flexible tank layouts in restricted or irregular spaces.

Rain Bloc 300 is suitable for both infiltration and attenuation applications. When wrapped in a permeable non woven geotextile membrane, it allows filtered stormwater to disperse into the surrounding ground while preventing soil fines from entering the system. For attenuation or retention systems, the crates should be encapsulated in an impermeable geomembrane with a suitable protection fleece.

The system is rated for use beneath landscaped areas, driveways, car parks and trafficked surfaces, including HGV loading, provided minimum cover depths and suitable backfill materials are achieved. Typical applications include residential soakaways, commercial drainage systems, car parks and urban developments where reliable stormwater control is required.

Limitations should be assessed at design stage. Maximum installation depth and cover requirements depend on loading class, soil type and groundwater conditions, and professional design checks are recommended for deeper or heavily trafficked installations.

Key Features

  • 300 litre storage capacity per crate
  • High 95 percent void ratio for efficient water storage
  • Suitable for infiltration or attenuation systems
  • Modular design for flexible tank layouts
  • Rated for use beneath trafficked areas with correct cover
  • Manufactured from recycled polypropylene

Material Composition

Manufactured from recycled polypropylene. This provides resistance to chemicals, groundwater and biological attack while maintaining structural strength under long term loading.

Can this be used under a driveway or car park?

Yes. Rain Bloc 300 is suitable for trafficked areas, including car parks and HGV access, when installed with the correct cover depth and backfill.

Is it suitable for soakaway infiltration systems?

Yes. Use a permeable non woven geotextile membrane to allow water to discharge into the surrounding ground while preventing soil ingress.

Can it be used as an attenuation tank?

Yes. When wrapped in an impermeable geomembrane, the system can be used for attenuation or water retention with controlled discharge.

How many crates are needed per cubic metre?

You will need approximately 3.3 crates to achieve 1 m³ of water storage.

Is inspection possible after installation?

Standard Rain Bloc crates are not inspectable. Inspection shafts or dedicated inspection units are required if maintenance access is needed.
