SNW40 White Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane 300gsm

SNW40 White Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane 300gsm

Description

SNW40 is a heavy duty non-woven geotextile membrane manufactured using a superior needle-punched process to deliver high tensile strength and exceptional puncture resistance. At 300gsm, it sits at the upper end of the non-woven range and is designed for applications where standard membranes are at risk of damage during installation or service.

In the ground, SNW40 provides effective separation by preventing fine soils migrating into aggregate layers while maintaining consistent water flow through the fabric. This helps preserve bearing capacity, drainage performance and surface stability over time. The needle-punched construction gives the membrane high flexibility and elongation, allowing it to accommodate ground movement and loading without tearing.

SNW40 is commonly specified in demanding applications such as horse arenas, paddocks and turnout areas, where repeated loading and wet conditions place stress on the sub-base. It is also used beneath driveways, access roads and road construction layers, as well as for trench lining, French drains and soakaway or attenuation tank wrapping where high puncture resistance is critical.

Due to its thickness and strength, SNW40 is well suited to installations involving angular aggregates, construction traffic or weak sub-grades. It is often selected where lighter 200gsm membranes would be borderline or where long-term durability is a priority.

Install SNW40 on a prepared sub-grade free from sharp protrusions. Adjacent sheets should be overlapped by a minimum of 300mm, increasing on soft or uneven ground. The membrane should be covered promptly with aggregate to avoid damage during construction.

Key Features

  • Very heavy duty 300gsm non-woven geotextile membrane
  • Superior needle-punched construction for high puncture resistance
  • Suitable for equestrian, driveways and road construction
  • Maintains separation and filtration under high loads
  • Performs well with angular aggregates and weak sub-grades
Supplied in wide rolls for efficient large area coverage

Material Composition

Manufactured from polypropylene fibres using a superior needle-punched non-woven process. This construction provides high strength, flexibility and resistance to installation damage.

About this collection

Non Woven Geotextile Membranes

Non woven geotextile membranes are permeable fleece fabrics used for ground separation, filtration and drainage. They allow water to pass through while preventing soil fines migrating into aggregate layers.

What type of projects is SNW40 designed for?

SNW40 is designed for high load and high risk installations such as equestrian surfaces, driveways, road construction and soakaway protection where puncture resistance is critical.

Why choose SNW40 instead of a 200gsm membrane?

SNW40 offers significantly higher puncture resistance and thickness, reducing the risk of damage during installation and under repeated loading.

Is SNW40 suitable for horse arenas and paddocks?

Yes. It is commonly used beneath equestrian surfaces to separate the sub-grade from the stone layer and maintain long-term stability in wet and heavily trafficked conditions.

What does a non-woven geotextile actually do in the ground?

A non-woven geotextile separates soil from aggregate while still allowing water to drain. This prevents fine material from contaminating the sub-base, which is a common cause of settlement and drainage failure over time.

Is this membrane suitable for permanent underground use?

Yes. When installed correctly and covered promptly, TCS non-woven geotextiles are designed for long-term buried applications and will perform for the life of the structure.
