TCS Tensar InterAx Geogrid Soil Stabilisation Rolls

TCS Tensar InterAx Geogrid Soil Stabilisation Rolls

Description

TCS Tensar InterAx geogrids are next generation soil stabilisation grids designed to improve the performance of unbound granular layers over weak or variable sub grades. They are permeable, punched and stretched polymer grids that stabilise aggregate by interlock rather than tensile reinforcement.

InterAx geogrids use a complex aperture geometry made up of hexagonal, trapezoidal and triangular shapes. This optimised structure improves aggregate interaction, limits lateral movement and increases the stiffness of the stabilised layer. When installed correctly, the system reduces rutting, settlement and deformation under repeated loading.

InterAx NX750 and NX850 are widely specified for highways, car parks, access roads, haul roads and working platforms. They are also suitable for crane pads, piling platforms, rail formations and airfield pavements where long term durability and consistent performance are required.

By improving load distribution within the aggregate layer, InterAx geogrids can reduce sub base thickness and excavation requirements compared to unreinforced construction. This can lower material volumes, speed up installation and reduce overall project cost, particularly on soft ground.

Installation is straightforward. The geogrid is laid directly onto a prepared formation and covered with a well graded granular fill. Where a separation layer is required, a non woven geotextile membrane should be installed beneath the geogrid. The grid must be covered within 30 days to maintain durability performance.

Key Features

  • Optimised InterAx geometry for enhanced aggregate confinement
  • Improves bearing capacity on weak sub grades
  • Reduces rutting and differential settlement
  • Can reduce sub base thickness and excavation
  • Suitable for permanent and heavily trafficked works
  • BBA certified for stabilisation of unbound granular layers

Material Composition

InterAx geogrids are manufactured from a co extruded composite polymer sheet that is punched and oriented to form an integrally bonded grid structure. This provides resistance to biological and chemical degradation in soil environments.

Reinforcement Mesh

About this collection

Reinforcement Mesh

Reinforcement mesh is used to strengthen ground and surfaces by distributing loads and limiting movement within concrete, screed or aggregate layers.

What is the difference between NX750 and NX850?

The difference is stiffness. NX850 provides higher radial secant stiffness and is suited to heavier loads or weaker sub grades than NX750.

Is InterAx used for reinforcement or stabilisation?

InterAx is a stabilisation geogrid. It works by aggregate interlock rather than tensile reinforcement.

Do I need a geotextile membrane with InterAx?

It depends on ground conditions. A non woven geotextile is recommended where separation from soft or fine soils is required.

How much overlap is required during installation?

Typical overlaps are 300 to 600 mm depending on ground strength and fill material. Follow project specification where provided.

How long will InterAx geogrids last in the ground?

When installed and covered correctly, they have a predicted service life of up to 100 years in normal soil conditions.
