TCS Tensar TriAx Geogrid Soil Stabilisation Rolls

TCS Tensar TriAx Geogrid Soil Stabilisation Rolls

Description

TCS Tensar TriAx geogrids are advanced stabilisation geogrids designed to improve the performance of unbound aggregate layers. They are permeable polymer grids that confine aggregate, reduce lateral movement and distribute loads efficiently into the subgrade.

Unlike conventional biaxial geogrids, the TriAx range uses a triangular aperture geometry with ribs oriented in three directions. This allows aggregate particles to interlock in multiple directions, forming a stiffened composite layer that improves bearing capacity and limits rutting under repeated loading. This makes TriAx particularly effective on weak or variable ground where traditional unreinforced sub bases are prone to deformation.

TriAx geogrids are widely specified for highways, car parks, access roads, haul roads and working platforms. They are also used beneath crane pads, piling platforms and airfield pavements where long term stability is required. By improving load transfer, TriAx can reduce excavation depth and aggregate thickness compared to unreinforced designs, helping to control build costs and programme time.

HX165 is a geocomposite version that combines a TriAx style stabilisation geogrid with a factory bonded non woven geotextile. This provides reinforcement and separation in a single layer, reducing installation time and preventing fines migration from soft sub grades into the aggregate layer.

All products should be laid on a prepared formation and covered promptly with aggregate. Trafficking should not take place until the grid or geocomposite is fully buried.

Key Features

  • Triangular aperture geometry for multi directional load distribution
  • Improves bearing capacity on weak sub grades
  • Reduces rutting and aggregate movement
  • Can reduce sub base thickness and excavation
  • Suitable for heavily trafficked and permanent works
  • HX165 combines separation and stabilisation in one layer

Material Composition

TX150 and TX190L are manufactured from punched and stretched polypropylene. HX165 is a polypropylene geogrid with a bonded non woven polypropylene geotextile to provide combined reinforcement and separation.

About this collection

Reinforcement Mesh

Reinforcement mesh is used to strengthen ground and surfaces by distributing loads and limiting movement within concrete, screed or aggregate layers.

What is the advantage of TriAx over biaxial geogrids?

TriAx grids distribute loads in multiple directions, improving aggregate confinement and reducing deformation compared to two direction biaxial grids.

When should HX165 be used instead of a standard TriAx grid?

HX165 is used where separation and stabilisation are both required, particularly on soft sub grades where fines migration is a concern.

Can these products be used on weak or soft ground?

Yes. They are designed for weak sub grades. In very soft conditions, thicker sub base layers or additional reinforcement may be required.

How much overlap is required during installation?

Typical overlaps are 300 to 600 mm depending on ground strength and fill material. Follow project specification where provided.

Do I need specialist equipment to install TriAx grids?

No. Rolls can be installed by hand. Aggregate should be placed carefully to avoid direct tipping onto exposed grid.
