Terram T2000 Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane

Terram T2000 Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane

Description

Terram T2000 is a heavy duty non woven geotextile membrane manufactured from UV stabilised, high tenacity, virgin polypropylene fibres. As part of the Terram standard range, it is engineered to meet defined mechanical and hydraulic performance properties rather than being specified purely by weight.

The membrane is both mechanically needle punched and thermally bonded, creating a tough, abrasion resistant fabric with high resistance to damage during construction. The randomly orientated fibre structure provides fully isotropic strength, ensuring consistent performance in all directions and reducing the risk of tearing under load or during installation.

In the ground, Terram T2000 provides reliable separation between soil and aggregate while maintaining controlled permeability. This prevents fine soils migrating into the sub base, helping to preserve bearing capacity and drainage performance over time. The low pore size supports effective filtration without restricting water movement.

Terram T2000 is typically specified beneath driveways, access roads, car parks and heavily trafficked hardstanding where lighter grades may be compromised. It is also used in drainage applications such as French drains and granular drainage blankets, particularly on weak or clay sub grades where long term performance is critical.

This grade is well suited to projects where construction traffic, angular aggregates or repeated loading increase the risk of membrane damage. Where extreme loading or protection of critical infrastructure is required, higher Terram grades should be considered.

Install Terram T2000 on a prepared sub grade free from sharp protrusions. Adjacent rolls should be overlapped by at least 300mm, increasing on soft or uneven ground. The membrane should be covered promptly with aggregate to reduce UV exposure and installation damage.

About this collection

Non Woven Geotextile Membranes

Non woven geotextile membranes are permeable fleece fabrics used for ground separation, filtration and drainage. They allow water to pass through while preventing soil fines migrating into aggregate layers.

When is Terram T2000 the correct specification?

T2000 is specified where loading is higher, traffic is regular or the sub grade is weak, made ground or clay based.

Is T2000 suitable for commercial and shared access areas?

Yes. It is commonly used beneath car parks, access roads and heavily trafficked hardstanding where lighter grades may be compromised.

What risk does T2000 reduce compared to T1500?

It significantly reduces the risk of membrane damage during installation and long term loss of bearing capacity caused by sub base contamination.

What makes Terram different from standard gsm based geotextiles?

Terram geotextiles are specified by performance, not weight. Fibre content is adjusted to meet defined strength, elongation and filtration properties, giving more predictable behaviour in real ground conditions than gsm rated membranes.

How long will a Terram geotextile last once installed?

When installed correctly and covered promptly, Terram geotextiles are designed for permanent underground use and are predicted to perform for over 25 years in normal soil conditions.
