TNW1100 White Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane 100gsm

TNW1100 White Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane 100gsm

Description

This product is a white, non woven, permeable geotextile membrane manufactured from polypropylene staple fibres using a needle punched process. At 100gsm, TNW1100 offers a step up in strength and puncture resistance compared to lighter membranes, making it suitable for general purpose separation and filtration across a wide range of ground conditions.

In the ground, the membrane allows water to pass freely through the fabric while preventing the migration of fines into clean aggregate layers. This helps maintain drainage performance, reduces settlement and extends the service life of the construction build up. TNW1100 is commonly used beneath patios, paths, shed bases and light duty hardstanding, as well as within drainage systems such as French drains, soakaways and attenuation installations.

This grade is often specified where a more robust installation layer is required, for example where the sub grade is variable or where the membrane may be subjected to greater installation stresses during aggregate placement. It provides a good balance between filtration performance, flexibility and puncture resistance.

TNW1100 can be used on domestic driveways with light vehicle loading where the sub grade is firm and well prepared. For heavier trafficked areas, weak soils or commercial loading, a heavier non woven membrane should be selected.

Lay the membrane directly onto a prepared sub grade, free from sharp protrusions. Adjacent sheets should be overlapped by at least 300mm, increasing to 500mm on softer or uneven ground. Cover promptly with aggregate to protect the membrane during construction.

Key Features

  • General purpose non woven geotextile for separation and filtration
  • Higher puncture resistance than lightweight grades
  • Allows water flow while retaining soil and fine particles
  • Suitable for patios, paths, drainage and light driveways
  • Easy to handle and install across a range of project sizes
  • Multiple roll sizes available to reduce waste on site

Material Composition

Manufactured from UV stabilised polypropylene staple fibres using a needle punched construction. This provides a permeable, flexible membrane with good resistance to installation damage.

About this collection

Non Woven Geotextile Membranes

Non woven geotextile membranes are permeable fleece fabrics used for ground separation, filtration and drainage. They allow water to pass through while preventing soil fines migrating into aggregate layers.

What type of jobs is TNW1100 commonly used for in practice?

TNW1100 is a general purpose grade used under patios, paths, shed bases and light domestic driveways where ground conditions are reasonable.

Is TNW1100 strong enough for driveways long term?

It can be, but only on firm, well prepared sub grades. On clay or made ground, stepping up to 160gsm or 200gsm reduces the risk of future settlement.

What is the main advantage of TNW1100 over 80gsm?

It tolerates installation abuse better. You get more puncture resistance and less risk of damage during aggregate placement.

What does a TNW non woven membrane actually do in the ground?

It separates soil from aggregate while still allowing water to drain. This stops fine material being pumped up into the stone layer, which is one of the main causes of settlement and loss of drainage over time.

How long will a TNW membrane last once buried?

When installed correctly and covered promptly, TNW membranes are designed for permanent underground use and will perform for the full service life of the build.
