Black Barbed 160mm Tough Square Pegs

Black Barbed 160mm Tough Square Pegs

Description

Black Barbed 160mm Tough Square Pegs are used to secure geotextile membranes and ground fabrics during installation, preventing movement before and during backfilling. They are suitable for use with woven and non woven geotextiles, mulch matting, erosion control blankets and other ground cover materials.

Each peg features a sharp pointed tip for easy penetration and a barbed shaft that grips the surrounding ground on all sides. This improves pull out resistance in both soft and firm sub grades, helping maintain membrane position even where foot traffic, wind or uneven surfaces are present during installation.

The wide square head provides a large contact area on the surface of the membrane. This helps spread load, reduces the risk of fabric tearing and keeps sheets flat and tensioned. The head design also makes the pegs easier to install by hand or with a mallet.

Manufactured from tough, UV stabilised plastic, these pegs are designed to resist bending or snapping during installation. They are suitable for long term buried use and perform reliably in typical landscaping, drainage and construction environments.

These pegs are commonly used on driveways, paths, soakaways, French drains, horse arenas, paddocks, slopes and general landscaping projects. They are a practical alternative to metal pins where corrosion, livestock safety or services are a concern.

What are these pegs used for?

They are used to secure geotextile membranes and ground fabrics during installation to prevent movement before covering.

Are they suitable for both woven and non woven membranes?

Yes. They are suitable for use with standard woven and non woven geotextile membranes.

Will they hold in firm or stony ground?

They perform well in firm ground due to the barbed shaft and tough construction, though very stony ground may require pre punching.

How many pegs should I use?

As a guide, use one peg every 1 to 2 m² for light duty applications and increase density on overlaps, edges or slopes.

Why use plastic pegs instead of metal pins?

Plastic pegs do not corrode and reduce risk around services, animals and machinery compared to metal fixings.
