EcoGrid EcoNail Ground Anchors for Permeable Paving

EcoGrid EcoNails are heavy duty ground anchors used to provide additional restraint to permeable paving installations where stability may be in doubt. They are most commonly specified on steep gradients, embankments or locations where there is a risk of grid lift during trafficking or installation.

The EcoNail consists of a long galvanised steel nail driven into the sub grade just below grid level. Once driven, the integrated galvanised steel clip clamps down onto the edge of the EcoGrid panel, locking it securely in position. This method provides vertical restraint without interfering with the grid layout or surface finish.

EcoNails are particularly useful where vehicle movement may introduce uplift forces, such as areas subject to tight turning by vans or lorries, or where slopes transition into flat surfaces. They are also used where standard ground pins or J pins may not provide sufficient holding depth.

As with other EcoGrid fixings, EcoNails are not required for all installations. On flat ground with good sub base preparation, EcoGrid systems will typically remain stable without additional anchoring. Where used, a general guideline is approximately three anchors per square metre, though this should be adjusted based on slope severity, ground conditions and loading.

EcoNails are sold individually, allowing contractors to specify exactly the quantity required for each project.

Limitations. EcoNails provide uplift restraint only and do not replace correct sub base design, edging or structural retaining systems.
