Galfan Coated Gabion Helicoil Spring Connector

Galfan coated helicoil springs provide a quicker, more consistent method of assembling welded mesh gabion baskets. Instead of tying panels together with lacing wire, the helicoil is wound down the adjoining mesh panels, locking them together in a single continuous connection. This significantly reduces installation time, particularly on larger walls or multi basket runs.

Manufactured from 3mm Galfan coated steel wire, the helicoils offer the same corrosion resistance and service life as Galfan welded mesh gabion baskets. The zinc aluminium coating provides up to four times the lifespan of standard galvanised finishes, making the springs suitable for long term external use in landscaping, erosion control and retaining applications.

Helicoils are commonly used on vertical corners, basket joints and connections between adjacent baskets. They can join the front, side and neighbouring panels in one operation, improving alignment and reducing the risk of loose or uneven joints. For most standard gabion installations, helicoils are used in place of side lacing wire, with lacing wire still used for lids and internal bracing where required.

Two lengths are available. The 500mm helicoil is typically used for half height baskets and smaller gabions. The 1000mm helicoil is suited to full height 1m baskets and stacked installations. Using helicoils does not change the structural behaviour of the gabion, but improves speed, consistency and labour efficiency on site.

These connectors are intended for use with 76.2mm x 76.2mm aperture welded mesh gabion baskets manufactured from Galfan coated wire.
