SNW80 White Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane 650gsm

SNW80 White Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane 650gsm

Description

SNW80 is a superior grade needle-punched non woven geotextile membrane manufactured from polypropylene fibres. At 650gsm, it sits well above standard non woven membranes in both strength and puncture resistance, making it suitable for demanding ground conditions and high load applications.

Unlike thermally bonded membranes, SNW80 is needle punched only. This construction gives the fabric high elongation and toughness, allowing it to flex under load while resisting tearing and puncture. This makes it particularly well suited to installations where sharp aggregates, trafficking during construction or repeated loading are expected.

In the ground, SNW80 provides effective separation by preventing the migration of fines into clean aggregate layers, while still allowing water to pass through the fabric. This helps maintain bearing capacity and drainage performance over time, especially in applications where ground failure would be costly or disruptive.

SNW80 is widely used in equestrian applications such as horse arenas, paddocks and turnout areas, where high point loads and constant movement place extreme stress on the ground build up. It is also specified beneath driveways, access roads and hardstanding, as well as for trench lining, French drains and as a protection layer around soakaway crates and attenuation tanks.

This membrane is not intended as a lightweight landscaping fabric. Its primary role is reinforcement, protection and long term stability in high stress environments. For lighter duty separation, a lower gsm non woven membrane should be selected.

Install SNW80 on a prepared sub grade free from sharp protrusions. Overlap adjacent rolls by at least 300mm, increasing on soft or uneven ground. Cover promptly with aggregate to protect the membrane during construction.

Key Features

  • Very heavy duty non woven geotextile for high load applications
  • Needle-punched construction for strength and flexibility
  • High puncture resistance for use with sharp aggregates
  • Suitable for equestrian, road and driveway construction
  • Performs as separation, filtration and protection layer
  • Large format roll for efficient coverage on site

Material Composition

Manufactured from polypropylene fibres using a needle-punched non woven process. This construction provides high elongation, toughness and resistance to installation damage.

About this collection

Non Woven Geotextile Membranes

Non woven geotextile membranes are permeable fleece fabrics used for ground separation, filtration and drainage. They allow water to pass through while preventing soil fines migrating into aggregate layers.

Why would I use SNW80 instead of a standard non woven membrane?

SNW80 is used where high loads, sharp aggregates or repeated trafficking would damage lighter membranes. It provides a much higher level of protection and stability.

Is SNW80 suitable for horse arenas and paddocks?

Yes. This grade is commonly specified for equestrian applications due to its strength, puncture resistance and ability to cope with constant movement and point loading.

Can SNW80 be used for soakaway or attenuation tank wrapping?

Yes. Its high puncture resistance makes it suitable as a protection layer around crates and tanks, particularly where ground conditions are poor.

What does a non-woven geotextile actually do in the ground?

A non-woven geotextile separates soil from aggregate while still allowing water to drain. This prevents fine material from contaminating the sub-base, which is a common cause of settlement and drainage failure over time.

Is this membrane suitable for permanent underground use?

Yes. When installed correctly and covered promptly, TCS non-woven geotextiles are designed for long-term buried applications and will perform for the life of the structure.
