TCS Geotechnics focus on geogrid reinforcement systems designed to improve load distribution over weak or variable ground.
Geogrids are typically installed within or directly beneath the sub base layer. The open grid structure allows aggregate to interlock within the apertures. This creates a mechanical stabilisation effect, increasing shear resistance and reducing lateral movement within the stone layer.
On clay sub grades with low CBR values, geogrids help reduce rutting and settlement by spreading imposed loads across a wider area. This can reduce the required sub base thickness in certain applications, provided the ground conditions have been properly assessed.
In domestic driveways and access routes, TCS Geotechnics geogrids are used to strengthen the base layer where ground is soft or prone to movement. In commercial and infrastructure projects, higher strength grades are specified for heavier trafficking and long term loading.
Geogrids are often installed in conjunction with a non woven geotextile membrane. The membrane provides separation and filtration, preventing sub grade fines contaminating the aggregate, while the geogrid delivers tensile reinforcement.
Correct specification depends on ground strength, loading class and sub base design. Geogrids are not a replacement for excavation and proper ground preparation where soils are extremely soft or waterlogged.
TCS Geotechnics products provide structural reinforcement where ground conditions demand more than separation alone.
